This is the second award in a matter of days (following on from the Bionow award) and recognises the progress that the company has made since its inception, both internally in terms of systems and processes, and externally in terms of meeting its customers needs.

Daresbury companies win big at the Medilink Awards

 

Two Healthcare Technology companies from Daresbury walked away with Start Up and Innovation accolades at the Medilink North West Awards.

The Medilink North West Awards, supported by the Business Growth Hub, celebrate the achievements of Healthcare Technology and related Life Sciences companies from across the North West.

The Sci-Tech Daresbury-based companies, Perfectus Biomed and Global BioDiagnostics Ltd, were awarded for their achievements in front of more than 100 delegates from the sector at the Medilink North West Christmas Dinner, which was held at Old Trafford.

The winners of the awards were:

  • The Business Growth Hub Start-Up Award winner – Perfectus Biomed
  • The HGF Innovation Award winner – Global BioDiagnostics Ltd
  • The Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership with the NHS winner – Veraz Ltd
  • The UKTI Export Achievement Award winner – Vernacare
  • The Medical Engineers Outstanding Achievement Award winner – Mast Group

The Start-Up Award was presented by Giles Denn from the Business Growth Hub to Perfectus Biomed.

Samantha Westgate, CEO at Perfectus Biomed said: “We’re very proud to have won the Start-Up Award. I’d like to thank Medilink, UKTI, Daresbury Innovation Centre, our investors and all those who are set up in the North West to support SME companies to develop and grow.”

The Innovation Award was presented by Janet Knowles from HGF to Global BioDiagnostics Ltd.

John Manwell, Executive Vice President and COO of Global BioDiagnostics Ltd said: “Thank you to Medilink for this Innovation Award, introducing us to some excellent connections and offering some great help and advice. I’d also like to thank Daresbury Innovation Centre.”

Winners will be put forward for consideration at the Medilink UK Awards. If successful, they will compete with other organisations from across the UK for the national title. The Medilink UK Awards take place on 29 April 2015 at the Med Tech Innovation Expo, held at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

Kevin Kiely, Chief Executive of Medilink North West, said: “It has been fantastic to see such a broad diversity of companies represented at this year’s Medilink North West Awards with everything from bespoke microbiology testing and IT solutions for the NHS, to point-of-care diagnostics and other innovative healthcare solutions that serve the needs of both national and international markets.”
