Jen’s career progression within Perfectus Biomed is just one exciting example of the business investing in its team and driving our employees to achieve and discover their potential. Jen graduated from the University of Sheffield with a BSc in Microbiology, after a stint as a Marine Biologist she worked in a microbiology laboratory performing challenge testing on industrial and cosmetic biocides, before joining with Perfectus Biomed Group in 2008.
Jen joined the company as a Scientist I and assisted in running several Microbiology projects. During this time she successfully applied to join the conference team, with the opportunity to attend international conferences she was able to understand more about the client needs and the full client process.
In January 2020 Jen advanced to the role of Scientist II, alongside this role she took on extra duties and worked to support the lab teams as an interim commercial senior. This required her to take on a role that combined communicating with the client and creating work plans.
In March 2020 she successfully applied to join the Business Development Team as Business Development Associate. This involved being the initial point of contact for new clients and directing them appropriately where needed, along with populating the CRM and continuing to write work plans to support the commercial scientists.
In October 2020 she applied for the role of a new Business Development Manager, specializing in wound care & medical devices. Successful in this application, Jen started the role in November. She is currently thriving in the role that is responsible for our wound care and medical device clients, along with finding new clients in these sectors.
“It’s been quite the change from where I started, but throughout the journey understanding the full picture for the clients has been my main driver, and it is wonderful to now approach them with the scientific understanding I gained while working in the labs.”
We are a Living Wage Employer
The Living Wage Foundation is a UK organization promoting a voluntary wage rate based on what people need to live supporting the idea that a “hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.” The wage is independently calculated and reviewed in November every year to meet the real cost of living. Perfectus Biomed know that paying the Real Living Wage to our entry level employees values and motivates them. It also ensures a fulfilling life outside of work; we get to see people buy their first house in their 20s, save for weddings, splash out on a new car and take holidays of a lifetime. In a world of temporary contracts and the minimum wage, Perfectus Biomed Group are committed to employing permanent salaried staff.
Our lab in the UK is situated at Daresbury Science Park in Cheshire. The science park is home to the iconic Daresbury Tower, synonymous with a previous generation of scientific discovery. In the heart of the North West the lab is just a short distance from Manchester, Liverpool, and Chester. That’s a 43-minute commute from Manchester, 37 minutes from Liverpool, 27 minutes from Chester. As well as being connected to these major cities, our UK Lab is surrounded by the beautiful Cheshire countryside.
Perfectus Biomed’s lab in the USA is situated in Jackson, Wyoming. Jackson is known for its outstanding Ski areas, and breath-taking scenery. The natural beauty and low population density are a welcome alternative to the high-traffic urban biotech clusters in California, Massachusetts, and Texas. The community of Jackson has supported our company’s growth and we are happy to call this area our home. Jackson is a perfect place to live and work! Why not Wyoming?
